Ariados - Weedle Your Way out of This One

#168 Ariados. This Ariados is for the Poke-FanClub's "Draw Me a Pokemon Contest." And in case I win that contest, I get to choose the next Pokemon to draw, and I choose: a Hidden Ability: Lightening Rod Goldeen. 

I took an extraordinary long time to work on this one! I hope it shows! I stared at spider webs for a really long time, and referenced many of them, plus webs with bugs caught in them. All of it is hand drawn though. First drawn Johto Pokemon, yay!
This was an epic undertaking. Its the largest drawing I've done by far. Each thing you see has multiple layers, Weedle had the most for some reason.... a grand total of 6 layers, the background is two, the webbing one, and the gradient fill one. Ariados itself took the remaining five layers. I meant to do a more intense background with a tree or trees, but alas, I thought extending the webbing would be better. Plus, I didn't really look at how big the pokemon were, but now, having looked at it... I doubt that the webbing would hold up a 7.1 lb Weedle AND a 73.9 lb Ariados. And if spider webbing could, I don't ever want to run across this one!!!
